Behind the scenes production of Transformers 4 that you don't know about
After four years of the Battle of Chicago, the Transformers finally disappeared and were reborn in the fervent anticipation of the audience. Although I was a bit anxious waiting, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee finally arrived. Transformers 4: Vanished and Reborn was released in Chinese Mainland on June 27. Because there were too many people on the day of its release, it only took a day to see it. After watching it, I immediately felt that the scene and production were really made in Hollywood. So today, I would like to talk with my friends about the behind the scenes production of Transformers 4!
Director Michael Bay used a $1 million 4K IMAX 3D camera to shoot "Transformers 4", which was also the first film to be shot using a 4K IMAX 3D camera. The 4K IMAX 3D camera was installed on top of a Porsche Cayenne worth over $50000, and the resulting images were exceptionally clear. However, the scenes in Iceland were filmed using film. Due to the use of IMAX 3D in this film, the rendering time will be twice as long as the previous IMAX required 36 hours per frame, which is significantly faster. Of course, this is due to the nature of the stereo format.
18 new robots have emerged in Transformers 4, all of which were produced by Industrial Light and Magic Company. It takes 15 weeks to first build the geometric shape of the robot model, then 15-20 weeks to build the supporting skeleton structure of the robot, followed by painting and creating detailed textures, and finally adjusting the robot according to different shooting formats, lenses, and scenes. Of course, those familiar car enthusiasts, although redesigned by Michael Bay, can still be recognized at a glance.
CG special effects run through the entire process of Transformers 4, and the special effects are also produced exceptionally well. The visual effects department in the post production of the film has reached 350 people. Although most robots are created through keyframe animation, when new skills appear, the crew still uses motion capture systems to present them. For example, the presentation of scenes in Hong Kong was created by the special effects team after several weeks of using digital cameras to record and process them with digital technology. The scenes of collapsed and damaged buildings were also the result of special effects.
Of course, in order to improve the quality of the film, those explosive and slow motion crews will try their best to use real-life effects, such as smoke and fire, such as grasping, hugging, carrying and other actions between robots and humans.
In fact, many iconic Chinese buildings appear in the film, all of which are captured through aerial photography, and the appearance of these Chinese elements has also attracted the attention of more Chinese audiences.
